What is this website all about?
I was recently hired as a career firefighter and spent a couple of years going through the
firefighting testing process. After spending countless hours on the internet and networking
with friends about how to get hired as a firefighter, I decided to create a free website to pass
on the information I have found useful. In this website you will find free firefighter practice
exams, firefighter study guides, firefighter books, firefighter interview tips, job postings and
links which have helped me during my pursuit to become a firefighter. If you have information

- Learn about the fire service by going on ride-alongs.
Ride-alongs are free and offered through most fire
departments. Ride-alongs also give you a great
understanding about the fire service, allow you the
opportunity to see first hand if this is the career for
you, and it allows you to network with firefighters in
your community. Contact your local fire department
for details. - Study and take as many practice exams as possible. I
have links to several free firefighter practice exams on
my site. - Be careful about free advice you receive on how to
answer firefighter interview questions. The interview
advice on my website is from eatstress.com. I
purchased "Conquering Job Interviews" DVD/CD set
and received 100% on my next firefighter interview. - DON'T DRINK and DRIVE!!! Besides the fact drinking
and driving is dangerous, it will likely disqualify you
from the testing process. Fire Departments simply do
not want to take a chance hiring someone who has a
DUI/DWI or occasionally drinks and drives. - If you have friends who are getting in trouble,
separate yourself from them. Part of the hiring
process includes an extensive background
investigation. The people you hang around with
reflects who you are as a person. The background
investigator will interview that one friend you don't
want them talking to. - Become an efficient reader by reading 15 minutes per
day. Write down everything you can remember about
the passage. This will help you with the reading
comprehension portion of the written exam. - Become a volunteer in the community. Volunteers
receive major brownie points during the interview. - Practice answering interview questions on a tape
recorder, video camera and in front of the mirror.
Have a mental script built before you go to an
interview. - Study for the firefighter exam by purchasing firefighter
study guides and books. - Become a Fire Explorer -
